About
Catherine Lazen
It is my joy and life's purpose to support people and communities in their journeys of change and growth. Over the past twenty-five years, I've worked as a therapist and as an educational psychologist. As a school social worker, teacher, and curriculum designer, I designed and taught trauma-informed, therapeutic language arts curricula, implemented a therapeutic canine literacy program, and administered school-wide social/emotional education and anti-bullying programs, provided in-school counseling and educational advocacy. As a social entrepreneur, I co-founded an arts-driven, New Jersey-based urban renewal movement. I also founded a non-profit organization that provided people with disabilities visual arts education and vocational training. Today, I focus on the needs of individuals and families, working in private practice as a psychotherapist. I enjoy fiber arts, scuba diving, gardening, foraging for mushrooms, walking our beloved dogs, Triscuit and Mavis, and spending time with my husband, Mark and our three adult children.

About
Mark Lazen
I've been married (to a brilliant psychotherapist ^) for more than 30 years and I'm dad to three grown children.I was a journalist early in my career, and a leader in technology organizations for more than 25 years after that. My calling to coach grew from my experience as a husband and dad-- as a person who struggled with the demands of providing and nurturing. For decades, I felt like I was stuck fighting the same battles over and over—family stress, anxiety at work, and a constant internal narrative of self-criticism.

I needed to find out if there was a better way.

So I started on a path of learning, reflection and practice that continues today. I discovered the power of mindfulness and the insights of modern interpersonal neurobiology and evolutionary psychology. I trained as a Co-Active™ coach (the gold-standard in the industry) and learned how to guide myself and others to transformation.

"In the midst of my most challenging and frustrating career moments, Mark acknowledges the difficulty of my circumstances while instilling optimism about moving forward. There’s a comforting energy in the way he helps... without diminishing my own instincts. His genuine care and humor make him a trusted guide." -Daniel
Today, my relationships are stronger and more honest than ever. My inner voices are kind to me. There's curiosity where the anger used to be. And I often feel overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the beauty all around me.

And while my own journey continues, my greatest joy is supporting others to their own vision of peace and success.
I live in Portland, OR, and when I’m not working, you can find me exploring nature with our dogs, swimming or biking, picking my guitar on the porch, or geeking out over complex adaptive systems, evolution, and genetics.
